What is a job series?

The federal government categorizes jobs into groups or families of jobs or occupations. These groups are called a series. The series is a four-digit number system for organizing similar jobs. Related jobs will have series numbers closer together.

For example, medical, dental and public health jobs will have a series between 0600-0699, where nurse jobs are in the 0610 series and nursing assistant is 0621.

Which job series are included in the quiz?

The Job Exploration Tool can match you with 69 job series in the Intelligence Community.

How did you find my match?

The Job Exploration Tool uses a unique approach to finding job matches for you based on your interests. Unlike most job match assessment tools which match you based on skills, competencies, eligibilities, education level, or background, the JET aims to help you discover many different jobs which align purely with your interests.

Why interest-based matching?

Experts believe that interest is the cornerstone of a fulfilling career. When you are genuinely interested in your job, it not only leads to greater job satisfaction but also to long-term career success.

How does the Job Exploration Tool work?

Each question talks about broad activities that many jobs could include. We take your answers and match you with job series that you might be interested in.
