NRO Cadre Undergraduate and Graduate Student Internship Program
This program targets students enrolled in a full-time degree program at an accredited college or university. You gain real-world experience in a variety of functional areas while working alongside professionals in this paid, 10-week program from June to August. In addition, there may be opportunities to work during the school year, e.g., winter and spring break and during subsequent summers, based on mission requirements, continued eligibility, and student availability. The internship may provide the opportunity for students to transition to the NRO Developmental Career Path Program upon graduation.

In partnership with National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the NRO sponsors unclassified internship projects. NASA Pathways Internships are competitive awards to support educational opportunities that provide unique space-related research and operational experiences to high school, undergraduate and graduate students, as well as educators. You will work on integrated, mentor-directed projects with NRO and NASA career professionals to contribute to the advancement of NRO's and NASA's missions.
This internship opportunity provides the option for students to transition to the NRO Cadre Undergraduate and Graduate Student Internship Program for subsequent summers or the NRO Developmental Career Path Program upon graduation.
Project assignments are made twice a year in the fall and the summer. Application deadlines are early March for summer and early July for fall opportunities.
APPLY FOR THE NASA PATHWAYS INTERNSHIPThe Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART)
Funded by the Department of Defense (DoD), SMART is a combined educational and workforce development opportunity for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) students. SMART offers scholarships for undergraduate, master's and doctoral students currently pursuing a degree in one of the 21 STEM disciplines. SMART Scholars receive full tuition, annual stipends and employment with the DoD after graduation.
