Intelligence operations

Space Force intelligence specialists provide intelligence knowledge requiring the application of analytic tradecraft, research and integration of intelligence of foreign systems, employment, doctrine, strategy, intent and perceptions supporting mission objectives. Intelligence analysts produce all-source intelligence for operations, acquisition and national-level clients on the characteristics, capabilities, limitations and vulnerabilities of foreign systems.

Intelligence specialists conduct Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) exploitation and analysis, including analyzing information vulnerability, intelligence collection, exploitation, production and dissemination of adversary threat information. Civilian intelligence professionals participate in intelligence operations tasking, collection, processing, exploitation and dissemination.

STEM careers

Space Force engineers perform technical work implementing engineering criteria, scientific principles and program policy to analyze the scientific and technical intelligence (S&TI) of all-source information. You will identify variables, metrics, trends and patterns to examine underlying relationships. You will use mathematical and statistical techniques, theory and technical engineering knowledge to develop solutions to problems. You will use established methods and apply existing models to develop solutions. The position may require providing preliminary scientific analyses on large and complex projects, developing portions of broad projects and using or adapting complex modeling techniques to meet project objectives or solve problems. You will serve as an engineering consultant and technical expert to senior officials, intelligence specialists, program managers or other agency representatives. You will also participate in working groups and prepare correspondence and briefings.

Space Force electronic engineers apply electronic principles to analyze the scientific and technical intelligence (S&TI) of all-source information. You will develop models/simulations or computer programs to evaluate and predict the ability to support assigned projects, studies or problems. You will diagnose problems using a comprehensive knowledge of scientific techniques (e.g., data collection and analysis procedures). You will participate in problem definition and refinement. You will serve as an engineering consultant and technical expert to senior officials, intelligence specialists, program managers or other agency representatives. Electronic engineers also participate in working groups and prepare correspondence, briefings, specifications and other documentation relevant to assigned projects.

Space Force aerospace engineers implement engineering criteria, scientific principles and program policy to analyze the scientific and technical intelligence (S&TI) of all-source information. You will serve as an engineering consultant and technical expert to senior officials, intelligence specialists, program managers or other agency representatives. You will represent your organization in assigned areas of responsibility when collaborating in working groups. You are responsible for preparing correspondence, briefings, specifications and other documentation relevant to assigned projects.

Space Force computer engineers design, construct and operate information technology systems and software to analyze the scientific and technical intelligence (S&TI) of all-source information. You will use scientific inquiry to develop models, simulation and/or computer programs to support assigned projects, studies or problems. You will diagnose problems using your comprehensive knowledge of scientific techniques (e.g., data collection and analysis procedures). You will identify significant variables and thoroughly examine underlying relationships. You will participate in working groups and prepare correspondence, briefings, specifications and other documentation relevant to assigned projects. Computer engineers at Space Force serve as an engineering consultants and technical experts to senior officials, intelligence specialists, program managers or other agency representatives.

Administration, accounting and resource support careers

Space Force administrative clerk assistants help manage day-to-day events for military squadron leaders and direct the unit’s Defense Travel System program. You will perform typical clerical roles and duties essential to fulfilling the Space Force’s mission. You could work as the organizational knowledge manager who oversee records management responsibilities. You will also manage the workflow of organizational tasks and distribution. This position is pivotal to the effectiveness and efficiency of Space Force staff functions.

Budget analysts manage annual budget, spending forecasts and habits, and advise military commanders and supporting staff on status of spending. You will also coordinate with relevant parties to execute budgets and spending plans.

Security specialists handle personnel, information and physical security for the Space Force. You will implement policies, procedures, standards, training and methods for identifying and protecting information, personnel, property, facilities, operations or material from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, assault, vandalism, espionage, sabotage or loss.

Your duties may involve the management, supervision or performance of work in:

  • Developing, evaluating, maintaining or operating systems, policies, devices, procedures and methods used for safeguarding information, property, personnel, operations and materials.
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures for analyzing and evaluating the character, background and history of employees, candidates for employment and other persons who may be granted access to classified or other sensitive information, materials or work sites.
  • Identifying, evaluating and categorizing disclosure criteria of classified documents; You will identify policies that govern foreign disclosure and information protection. You will assist original authorities with development of program classification guides and you are the approval authority for the release of military information to foreign government representatives.
